Invention to Innovation (i2I) Program
Based on decades of academic research and industry expertise, the Invention to Innovation (i2I) suite of programs has been designed as a complementary system, addressing the capacity, culture and connectivity needs of the Canadian innovation ecosystem and building a growing network of academic experts, industry mentors and translational colleague across Canada. These include the i2I Skills Training Program and the Graduate Certificate in Science and Technology Commercialization.
i2I Skills Training Program
In 2019, SFU Beedie partnered with Mitacs to establish the Mitacs i2I Skills Training (i2I), a flexible, asynchronous program, created in recognition that over 80% of university PhD and postdoc students will not become tenured professors (what they are trained for), but with the right training, these talented researchers could catalyze their own careers and the translation of Canada鈥檚 world class research into impactful innovation. The National i2I Network expansion across Canada is a collaborative effort with regional delivery partners, funders, ecosystem collaborators, and networks to enhance Canada's innovation capacity.
Applications currently being accepted for the (Fall 2025 Cohort).
