Summer Research Assistant Positions
2 to 4 positions– Truro, NS
Assisting in field related research activities involved in crop, soil and systems evaluation and production of agronomic and horticultural crops. Crops to be examined will range from the traditional field crops such as the small seeded cereals to new crops for this region with novel uses.Ìý Activities will include land preparation, fertilization, seed packaging, plot layout, seeding, maintenance of plots, mowing, weed and pest control, data collection, data analysis, harvesting, yield determination and record keeping. Students will be offered 18-19 weeks employment (depending on available funding). Both degree and technician/technology students are encouraged to apply.
Qualifications
ÌýÌý Ìý
Willingness to work outside and eagerness to learn
Must be enrolled as a student for 2019-20.
Experience with farm equipment, small plot work and /or computer spreadsheet use is an asset but not required.
Ability to work flexible hours.
Own wet gear and safety boots required.
Current First Aid, WHMIS and OH&S training will be considered assets.
Valid Nova Scotia’s driver’s license and valid certification in Defensive Driving.
