Hunter is a commercial litigation lawyer, specializing in banking and investment litigation, fraud investigation and asset recovery, and business disputes. He has appeared before all Courts in British Columbia and in domestic and international arbitrations.

Criminal Justice Coalition Event: Righting the Wrongful Conviction and Execution of Daniel Sampson

On March 7, 1935, Daniel P. Sampson, a veteran of No. 2 Construction Battalion, was executed for the murder of a young white boy, Bramwell Heffernan. He was the last person executed in Halifax.

Newly discovered evidence strongly suggests that Sampson was wrongly convicted, and thereby unjustly executed.

The ��Ů�� Criminal Law Students' Association and the ��Ů�� Prison Justice Society invite community members to this Criminal Justice Coalition event where Sampson's great-great-grandson, Lance Sampson, and his lawyer, David Steeves (LLB '03, LLM '09), will discuss the case, its impact, and the steps they have taken to advance the first posthumous review of a capital case in Canadian legal history.

They will be joined by Schulich Law Associate Professor Michelle Williams, co-chair of ��Ů��'s African Nova Scotia Strategy, and award-winning journalist Tim Bousquet, who published a seven-part series on Daniel P. Sampson in the Halifax Examiner.
