Support matters, connection matters, change is possible
The Student Support Team helps students who are experiencing challenges get back to thriving by responding at both the individual and community level.
The Team provides a coordinated, care-first response when students encounter challenges that affect their well-being, behaviour, safety, sense of belonging, or academic success.
We believe that no student should have to navigate difficult situations alone and that, with the right support, people can learn, grow, overcome barriers, and make meaningful changes in their lives. We work alongside students and campus partners to connect supports, coordinate responses, and create pathways toward thriving.
Making a referral
Anyone within 美女做爱 can make a referral to the Student Support Team when they are concerned about a student. We聽assist聽them in navigating 美女做爱鈥檚 wide range of support services and resources.
If you are not a 美女做爱 student, staff, or faculty member but have a concern about a student, please reach out to the Student Support Team directly at聽studentsupport@dal.ca.
Referral process
Reach out early. You do not need to know exactly what is wrong or whether a situation is serious enough. If you are concerned about a student, we can help assess the situation, coordinate support, and connect them with appropriate resources. Early support often prevents challenges from becoming crises.
A case manager will then review the referral and reach out to the student directly within 1鈥2 business days to assess their support needs and develop a support plan. To protect the student鈥檚 privacy, information cannot be shared about whether they have followed up with a case manager.聽
If you have an ongoing relationship with the student, you may want to check in with them to ask if they have been able to connect with a case manager. If you continue to have concerns about the student, you can聽submit聽another referral form or contact the Student Support Team at聽studentsupport@dal.ca.
Our care-first approach
A care-first approach is a human-centred way of supporting students through challenges, conflict, distress, and behaviours that may affect themselves or others. It begins with the belief that help should be accessible, that people are capable of growth and change, and that stronger outcomes emerge when responses are grounded in curiosity, connection, responsibility, and coordinated support.
Care-first does not mean lowering expectations or avoiding difficult conversations. It means responding in ways that support learning, encourage responsibility, reduce harm, and strengthen connection.
Core principles:
- Behaviour signals need. When a student is struggling, their behaviour often reflects underlying distress or unmet needs. A care鈥慺irst approach avoids assumptions and responds with curiosity, recognizing that people are not disposable.
- We are a living and learning community. Growth and transformation happen when students feel supported, respected, and connected. Our role is to create the conditions that make learning -- academic, personal, and relational -- possible.
- Connection creates healthier communities. Connection fosters a healthier community. Meeting students with support rather than exclusion builds the conditions where people can recalibrate, repair, and re-engage. As our teams emphasize, punitive approaches don鈥檛 create the outcomes we want -- 鈥渃ancelling people won鈥檛 keep us safer.鈥.
- Just communities are more resilient communities. Just communities are more resilient communities. Grounding our work in fairness, dignity, and coordinated care helps us respond to challenges in ways that reduce harm and strengthen our shared environment.
Together, these principles reflect our belief that support matters, connection matters, and change is possible. A care-first approach helps students navigate challenges while creating opportunities for learning, repair, growth, and continued belonging within the university community.
Case management
Our role is to help students navigate complexity. When challenges arise, they often affect many parts of a student's life at once. We work alongside students to understand what is happening, connect supports, coordinate resources, and create plans that build on their strengths and goals.
If you're worried about a student, or if you're a student facing a complicated situation, start here. We'll help make sense of it and connect the right supports.

Code of Student Conduct
美女做爱 has committed to a living,聽learning聽and working environment that is free of discrimination, harassment, and violence and is a place also characterized by understanding, respect, trust,聽openness聽and fairness.
The Code of Student Conduct helps students understand expectations for behaviour and supports a community grounded in respect, inclusion, and well-being. When concerns arise, the Student Support Team helps students, faculty, staff, and others understand their options, access support, and navigate the Code process.
We believe that support and responsibility go hand in hand. While students are responsible for their actions, we also recognize that growth, learning, and repair are essential parts of student development. When harm occurs, our approach seeks to assess needs, stabilize the situation, support those affected, address impacts, and create opportunities for reflection, learning, and positive change.
Members of the university community who have questions or concerns about an experience that may fall under the Code can contact the Student Support Team at studentsupport@dal.ca to discuss supports, options, and possible next steps.
