ENSL 0004: English Communication and Academic Skills
This course focuses on learning strategies, language skills, and communication skills that support academic success at university. It is designed to strengthen students’ ability to interact effectively with course content, peers, and instructors. By the end of the course, students will demonstrate competence in key academic English language and communication skills.

ENSL 0005: Academic Writing and Research Skills
This course is designed to strengthen the academic writing and research skills necessary for university success. It introduces the fundamentals of research writing, interpretive skills, and argument-based writing, helping students build clear reasoning and evidence-based arguments. Students develop their academic writing, research, and presentation skills, culminating in a final research paper presented at a student conference.

Prerequisites: ENSL 0004 is a prerequisite for Joint Program (China Program) students from Shandong University of Finance and Economics (SDUFE) and Renmin University of China (RUC). There are no prerequisites for all other students.
