Mandatory Course

This online course is designed to help current and future students understand the nature of university learning and academic expectations. Students will increase self-awareness by exploring their learning styles, motivation and study habits. Topics will include time management, reading, note-taking, critical thinking, academic writing and preparing for exams.

Delivery format: Online- scheduled
Time commitment: 36 hours over 6 weeks (combination of self-paced and scheduled video sessions)

Optional Courses

This online course is based on the Grade 12 pre-calculus math curriculum but tailored to the needs of the group following a diagnostic test that students would take in advance of the course. 

The Math Refresher course is right for you if you have experienced challenges with any of the following math concepts:

  • Performing algebraic equations

  • Interpreting and performing operations with functions and relations 

  • linear and quadratic functions

  • polynomial and rational functions

  • exponential and logarithmic functions

  • right angle trigonometry and trigonometric functions

Time commitment: 36 hours over 6 weeks (combination of self-paced and scheduled video sessions) 
Cost: $700

This online course is for students currently enrolled in a degree program and have been academically dismissed and are looking to improve their English language skills. Students will get training in writing assignments, understanding course materials including readings and lectures, and giving academic presentations. The course will also provide students an opportunity to practice English language from their discipline-specific perspective.

This course is right for you if you have experienced challenges with any of the following:

  • Confidence in using English in class discussions 

  • Understanding and responding to your professors

  • Comprehending information in your class lectures 

  • Understanding and using information from course readings 

  • Presenting or writing assignments in English 

  • Using discipline-specific language in spoken and written assignments
